Baden-Württemberg: Every second person is optimistic about old age

Always think positively, every second person in Baden-Württemberg has made it their mission. And the age? No problem, say millions of people in the southwest, according to a survey.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Despite rearmament, skyrocketing prices and climate change, almost every second person in Baden-Württemberg is in a good mood about getting older. They are rather optimistic, according to the AOK Baden-Württemberg, 39 percent of those surveyed described their view ahead. Another 8 percent are even very optimistic and only 17 percent pessimistic.

A majority of 70 percent of people in the southwest also assume that they are very or more likely to be in good fitness and health when they are older than 70, according to the representative survey by the opinion research institute forsa among 1002 Baden-Württembergers between the ages of 30 and 55 revealed. One in four (26 percent) is not so sure and considers it rather or even very unlikely.

"It is all the more important to ensure a balanced diet from a young age, to keep moving and to take care of yourself," advises AOK prevention and prevention specialist Eva Ortlieb. She recommends drinking as little alcohol as possible and not smoking. "The risk of falling ill with serious illnesses is thus reduced and the probability of being fit and healthy even in old age increases."
