Baden-Württemberg: foolish state reception at Kretschmann

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - At the traditional foolish state reception in Stuttgart on Wednesday, Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann had one topic in particular: his water-saving washcloth tip from last summer. Shortly after 12 p.m., around 200 fools stormed the New Palace again and symbolically took over power from Kretschmann. The jesters and Kretschmann himself laughed above all at a statement by the 74-year-old from last summer: For his suggestion that you could save water with a washcloth, the Green had received a lot of ridicule - and now showed humor.

"I only meant well, even if it doesn't seem like it to you," he called out to the fools in front of the castle - who brought him a "washcloth" on a cord and hung it around his neck. Apparently not the first present of this kind, as Kretschmann blurted out in his speech: "But since then someone has always given me - and they're not getting any smaller - rags for body care." Finally, Kretschmann, with a washcloth around his neck, a jester's cap on his head and hand in hand with Frau Gerlinde, led the way into the castle, where the jesters fortified themselves with beer, spaetzle and lentils.

It was a feel-good date for him, said Kretschmann. He gladly and voluntarily hands over power to the fools. "I'm glad that others are in charge now and that I'm relieved of the burden," smiled the Prime Minister - he was a real fool, "since childhood".
