Baden-Württemberg: Further warning strikes by IG Metall in the southwest

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - With warning strikes in Stuttgart and planned work stoppages in other Baden-Württemberg locations in the metal and electrical industry, IG Metall has kept up the pressure in the collective bargaining round. According to the union, around 1,500 Porsche AG employees took part in the walkout there early on Wednesday morning. The warning strike will be extended to the end of the shift, said IG Metall Stuttgart. The warning strike should not only be continued in Stuttgart companies in the coming days. Among other things, a rally in Pfullendorf was also announced for Wednesday (2:15 p.m.), for which employees should finish work a few hours earlier.

According to union information, almost 2,000 employees had been involved in the first warning strikes and rallies after the end of the peace obligation since Saturday. Among other things, work was temporarily stopped at Bosch in Reutlingen.

In the ongoing collective bargaining, IG Metall is demanding eight percent more money for a period of twelve months for the approximately one million employees in the industry in the south-west. As in the other tariff areas, the employers' association Südwestmetall had also offered a one-time payment of 3000 euros and an unspecified increase in the salary scales for a period of 30 months. Since both sides have not been able to come to an agreement in three rounds, negotiations will continue in Böblingen on November 8th.
