Offenbach/Bad Mergentheim (dpa/lsw) - In Bad Mergentheim (Main-Tauber-Kreis) on Wednesday the highest temperature since weather records began was measured in the southwest. 40.3 degrees were reached there at 3:30 p.m., according to a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD). This broke the previous record for Baden-Württemberg of 40.2 degrees in Freiburg in August 2003.
In Germany, a temperature of more than 40 degrees has now been measured for the tenth time since records began - this was last the case in 2019. The final record values of the day should not be set until after 8 p.m., according to the DWD.
