Baden-Württemberg: IHK: High energy costs risk for almost all companies

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to a survey, only every eighth company in Baden-Württemberg is optimistic about the future - significantly less than in early summer. Almost every second company assumes a worse business development, reported the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Wednesday), citing a survey by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Energy costs are at the top of the list of business needs: almost 80 percent see the prices for gas and electricity as a risk for their economic development. Every second company can partially pass on the rising energy prices to its customers. A large part bears the costs themselves, which reduces the returns. "The companies are getting down to business, the winter will be an ordeal," said Chamber Vice President Marjoke Breuning. She called on the federal government to relieve the economy as early as January 1st and not only on March 1st. "If we leave the companies alone now, it will mean the end of the economy for many."
