Baden-Württemberg: Orange-red approaching: Saharan dust expected in the southwest

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Car owners in the southwest without a garage can probably plan the next trip to the car wash: According to the German Weather Service (DWD), Sahara dust is moving across Baden-Württemberg again. A spokesman said that a significantly increased concentration of dust in the atmosphere can be expected, especially from the night of Thursday and Thursday morning. Because rain is gathering at the same time, the dust can be deposited in an orange-red layer on vehicles and other objects deposited outside. Several media had previously reported about it.

The phenomenon occurs because Baden-Württemberg falls under the influence of a low-pressure area. The current pulls from the southwest from Morocco and Algeria to southern Germany, bringing with it the dust released in North Africa. In the spring of last year, a reddish sky had fascinated people in the country several times - and annoyed car owners.

The rain is expected to move east on Thursday afternoon. Occasionally, showers are still to be expected in the mountains, possibly also thunderstorms, according to the DWD. Friday night will remain dry.
