Baden-Württemberg: Parcel deliverers steal goods from packages

Albstadt/Tübingen (dpa/lsw) - In more than 500 cases, parcel deliverers are said to have stolen high-quality shipping items from parcels and exchanged them for inferior goods. Five of 18 suspects from a transport company were arrested on Wednesday, the police said. The public prosecutor's office in Tübingen had previously obtained arrest warrants and search warrants against seven deliverers. During the apartment searches in Albstadt (Zollernalbkreis) and Tübingen, the investigators found suspected stolen goods such as electronic items and cash.

The men in the districts of Reutlingen, Tübingen and in the Zollernalb district are said to have stolen expensive mobile phones, electronic items and high-quality clothing from packages worth around 120,000 euros. The suspects placed inferior goods of similar quality and weight in the packages. The packages were then resealed and delivered to the recipients. The transport company filed a complaint in November 2022. The accused are now to be brought before the magistrate. The investigation initially continued.
