Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to the German Police Union (DPolG), so-called Reich citizens are a serious threat to democracy. "The scene poses a threat to our democracy and our country," said Baden-Württemberg DPolG state chairman Ralf Kusterer on Wednesday. The investigators are on the right track, as the searches and arrests have shown. These successes are not a deterrent, however, because raids do not shake the groups' worldview: "You cannot count on being realistic," said Kusterer of the German Press Agency. "These people are in a different thought construct."
The federal prosecutor had previously arrested 25 people across Germany, 8 of them in Baden-Württemberg. They are said to have planned a coup and, in some cases, also trained with weapons.
