Baden-Württemberg: State Criminal Police Office: Raid because of hate speech on the Internet

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) searched nine buildings on Friday in connection with a hate letter against politicians and public figures. As an LKA spokesman announced, the measures were aimed at 20 people between the ages of 37 and 79, including 4 women. Numerous mobile phones, laptops, computers and a small-caliber rifle were seized. The criminal offenses of insult, slander and defamation are being investigated. "The rule of law takes active action against those who criminally stir up and spread hate in the digital world," said Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU).

The diatribe began appearing regularly on social media at the beginning of the year. The picture is based on the official wanted posters of the RAF era. A poster entitled "Terrorists - Enemies of the State - Davos Clique" shows leading politicians. "This pamphlet accuses, among other things, the virologist Dr. Christian Drosten, Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann, entrepreneur Bill Gates and other people of high treason, genocide, child abuse and blackmail," said an LKA statement.

The raid took place in the areas of responsibility of the police headquarters in Freiburg, Heilbronn, Karlsruhe, Konstanz, Ludwigsburg, Mannheim, Ravensburg and Ulm. 45 police officers were on duty. "This action is a clear sign that we do not tolerate hatred and hate speech on the Internet and that we are taking decisive action against it," says Thomas Georgi, head of the LKA state security department.
