Baden-Württemberg: State Ministry wants one million euros more for "The Länd"

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - The tax estimate is pleasing despite the crisis, so the distribution struggles in the green-black coalition in the south-west should start again. The State Ministry also wants a piece of the cake in order to strengthen the state's own advertising campaign "The Länd". For the year 2024, the government headquarters wants to have one million euros more, the German Press Agency learned from government circles in Stuttgart. So far, three million euros have been earmarked for 2023 and 2024 in the draft budget.

Before the budget talks this Saturday, the State Ministry is also urging the country to commit to spending three million each on the campaign in 2025 and 2026. Originally, State Secretary Florian Stegmann even wanted three million euros more for 2024, but this was rejected by the Ministry of Finance a long time ago. At the start of the new sympathy offensive, it was said a year ago that it had cost 21 million euros.

Although the exact numbers of the tax estimate for the southwest are not yet available, it is clear that the country can also record a significant increase. The estimators assume that the federal, state and local governments will earn around 126.4 billion euros more by 2026 than expected in May. On Saturday, the heads of the coalition will meet in Stuttgart in the budget commission to discuss what the country can spend more on. Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) declared in the state parliament on Wednesday that he wanted to strengthen the buffer for risks and put more money aside. He called on the parliamentary groups to exercise moderation.
