Baden-Württemberg: "Tag des Handwerks": Politics reacts cautiously

The Stuttgart Chamber of Crafts is calling for a "Day of Crafts" in schools because there are no trainees. Bavaria is a role model. Politicians in the south-west react with restraint.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - the Ministry of Culture and Economics have reacted cautiously to the call for a "Day of Crafts" at general schools in Baden-Württemberg. The Chamber of Crafts Region Stuttgart had requested this at the beginning of the week in view of a decline in trainees.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Culture said on request that Baden-Württemberg has a wide range of career orientation options, which also include crafts. Further measures are possible if this is necessary. "Days with a special focus are also an option here, but you first have to plan and organize them together with your partners and also include them in the school calendar."

The Ministry of Economics referred to the "Day of Vocational Orientation", with which a good and goal-oriented offer is available, which of course also includes the crafts. Any additions to the offers would have to be discussed with all those involved, according to a spokeswoman.

The model for the Stuttgart Chamber of Crafts is Bavaria, where secondary school students are to complete such a day from the coming school year.
