Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - In the wage dispute in the public sector, garbage disposal and city cleaning went on short-term strikes on Shrove Tuesday in Stuttgart. This was announced by a city spokeswoman. The recycling centers also remained closed. According to the Verdi union, most of the approximately 1,000 employees are not working. It should also not be cleaned in the city center after the carnival parade, the union spokesman said.
In the current collective bargaining round, Verdi and the civil servants' association dbb are demanding 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more for the approximately 2.5 million employees in the public sector at federal and local level. The term of the new collective agreement is to be twelve months. The second round of collective bargaining is scheduled for February 22nd and 23rd in Potsdam.
