Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Threats against district administrator: Schomann files criminal charges

Rostock (dpa / mv) - The District Administrator of Northwest Mecklenburg, Tino Schomann, has filed a criminal complaint because of threats he received. As the police headquarters in Rostock confirmed on Tuesday, the state security department of the criminal police is investigating. It was not initially known what kind of threat it was. The CDU politician is currently the focus of citizen protests, some of which have turned tumultuous, because of the construction of refugee accommodation in his district. The "Schweriner Volkszeitung" (SVZ) had previously reported.

The protest is particularly large in Upahl, a town of 500 people, where a container village for 400 people is to be built. There have been rallies against it for weeks.

On Monday evening, another consultation on refugee accommodation between the mayors, district and district council representatives ended without result. Schomann is asking for help from the federal government, he sees the municipalities overwhelmed with the task. In the next few days, he wants to approach mayors individually and find out whether housing can be built in their community.
