Bavaria: 58-year-old dies after an accident with the minister's company car

Munich (dpa / lby) - After an accident with the company car of Bavaria's Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber (CSU), a 58-year-old died. The woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Monday, police said. Investigations into the cause of the accident on November 28 near Siegsdorf (Traunstein district) continued.

Kaniber's service limousine collided with the 58-year-old's car on a district road. She had previously avoided another car, which had therefore left the oncoming lane. A rescue helicopter had taken the seriously injured 58-year-old to a hospital.

Kaniber was also taken to a clinic after the accident. She announced on Facebook on Friday that she was allowed to leave the hospital. "I am grateful to God above because I am doing well considering the circumstances," Kaniber wrote. "However, due to my broken sternum and the severely damaged coccyx, it will not be possible for me to attend public appointments for the time being." With a view to the 58-year-old, Kaniber wrote: "We are heartbroken, pray and think of her very firmly."
