Bavaria: After the Corona break, 200,000 visitors to the Bavaria Museum

Regensburg (dpa/lby) - After an interruption due to the corona pandemic, the Museum of Bavarian History in Regensburg was also able to start visitor operations again in 2022 - with "very pleasing" results, as the museum organizers summed up. Around 200,000 people have already visited the permanent and special exhibitions in the museum this year, which has set itself the goal of telling history in a well-founded, but vivid and tongue-in-cheek manner.

The Bavarian exhibition opened in the spring entitled "Dying away in pubs? Living in pubs!" ends on December 11th and will be on display as a traveling exhibition at various locations in Bavaria from 2023. One of the highlights among the new exhibits is a black, two-piece dress worn by Empress Elisabeth of Austria (1837-1898). It was integrated into the staging of the funeral procession for King Ludwig II. Skirt and bodice are made of "extremely thin and fine silk taffeta and lace".

Museum director Richard Loibl also looked to the coming year and described it as an honor to be able to hold the Bavarian-Czech state exhibition "Baroque! Bavaria and Bohemia" together with the National Museum in Prague. This is to be shown in Regensburg from May 10, 2023 and then in Prague.

The Museum of Bavarian History also wants to do justice to the issue of energy efficiency. The museum obtains green electricity from hydropower and heating and cooling is also provided by heat pumps and the waste water from the city of Regensburg. There are also plans to install a photovoltaic system on the roof.
