Bavaria: Around two and a half billion euros in family allowances paid out

Munich (dpa/lby) - Since the introduction of the Bavarian family allowance on September 1, 2018, more than two and a half billion euros have already been paid out to parents of small children. Around 655,000 children would have benefited from the payment by the end of 2021. This emerges from the Bavarian Social Report 2022, which was published on Tuesday.

The family allowance is paid for all one- and two-year-old children in Bavaria. The parents are supported with 250 euros per month and child, from the third child with 300 euros per month. The family benefit is paid regardless of income, employment and the type of care. Anyone who has already applied for and received parental allowance in Bavaria does not have to submit an additional application for family allowance. The application for parental allowance is then also considered an application for family allowance.
