Poing (dpa / lby) - The fire in a church in Upper Bavaria, which was only consecrated in 2018, caused a lot of damage. As the police announced on Friday, the east facade of the building was on fire around noon. No one was injured during the operation in Poing (Ebersberg district), and there were also no visitors in the church. The Kripo Erding determines the cause of the fire. The police spoke of possibly "negligent action in connection with the destruction of weeds". The damage is likely to be in the high six-digit euro range.
The new church building, which has won architectural awards, was inaugurated in June 2018 by Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Archbishop of Munich and Freising.
