Neustadt am Kulm (dpa / lby) - A senior citizen fell while picking mushrooms in the Upper Palatinate and spent the night injured in the forest. According to the police on Monday, the 84-year-old broke her thigh after she slipped on a root in a forest near Neustadt am Kulm (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district) on Saturday. On Sunday morning, relatives missed the woman who lived alone and called the police and fire department.
An acquaintance of the 84-year-old finally went with a horse to look for the missing person, it was said. Around noon, the 38-year-old found the elderly woman lying injured on the forest floor. The woman was said to be approachable and fully oriented. Rescue workers from the Bavarian Red Cross finally took the casualty to Weiden Clinic, where she underwent surgery.
