Bavaria: fight against organized crime: millions secured

Munich (dpa/lby) - In the fight against organized crime, investigators in Bavaria have secured assets of around 25.5 million euros so far this year. This was announced by the State Criminal Police Office and the Munich Public Prosecutor's Office on Thursday. "This year, the Free State again takes a leading position in the fight against organized crime in a national comparison," the statement said. According to the information, the focus was on white-collar crime such as call center fraud, drug trafficking, smuggling and property crime.

In 2021, 83 investigations involving a total of 773 suspects were conducted in organized crime in Bavaria. "The aim of criminal organizations is to make a profit. The aim of our investigators is that crime should not be worthwhile and that delinquent behavior is consistently pursued," said LKA President Harald Pickert.

According to Attorney General Reinhard Röttle, among other things, the Central Coordination Office for Asset Recovery Bavaria (ZKV-BY) should ensure that profits from crimes are confiscated consistently. In 95 percent of the proceedings, corresponding financial investigations were also carried out in 2021.
