Bavaria: Four candidates want the office of state bishop

Munich (dpa / lby) - The evangelical state church wants to present the possible successors for the office of Bavarian state bishop in Munich today. Four candidates apply - two women and two men.

The youngest candidate is Nina Lubomierski (47), the dean of the deanery in Landshut. She competes against Gabriele Hoerschelmann (54), the director of "Mission EineWelt". The regional bishop in the church district of Munich, Christian Kopp (58), was also proposed. The fourth candidate is Klaus Schlicker (56), currently Dean of Windsbach.

The term of office of the current regional bishop, Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, ends after almost twelve years on the Reformation Day on October 31 of this year. The state synod must now decide who will succeed him. On March 17, the candidates are to introduce themselves to the members of the synod. On March 27, the 108 members of the synod will elect the new state bishop at their spring conference in St. Matthäuskirche in Munich.
