Bavaria: High fuel prices: Bavaria no longer stands out nationwide

Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavarian drivers no longer have to dig deep into their pockets at the pump. After the Free State had by far the highest fuel prices of all federal states in the summer, it is now back in the middle, according to figures from the ADAC on Thursday.

According to this, a liter of E10 cost 1.935 euros on average in Bavaria shortly after 11 a.m. This is the ninth highest price. Fuel was cheapest in Saarland at 1.883 euros, and most expensive in Schleswig-Holstein at 1.977 euros.

A liter of diesel cost 2.135 euros in Bavaria. That was the fifth highest price. The cheapest was Hamburg with 2.090 euros per liter, the most expensive Bremen with 2.159 euros. For both fuels, the gap between the highest and lowest national averages was much smaller than in September.

"Bavarian motorists can breathe a sigh of relief because the extreme regional surcharges from the summer have disappeared," said ADAC fuel market expert Jürgen Albrecht. "Possible factors for the reduction in regional differences are that the refinery in Schwechat is fully operational again and that the Rhine has enough water again. Overall, however, fuel is still far too expensive both in Bavaria and in Germany."
