Bavaria: LBV: Nature conservation in the crisis more important than ever

Amberg (dpa / lby) - Even in times of crisis, nature conservation must not be neglected, according to Norbert Schäffer, head of the State Association for Bird Protection (LBV). He is even more important than ever, said Schäffer on Saturday before the association delegates in Amberg. In the past year, the association has set numerous priorities - such as the environmentally compatible implementation of the energy transition and criticism of the wasting of land in Bavaria. In addition, the LBV promoted a factual handling of controversial animal species such as wolves and otters.

The board of the association should be re-elected later in the afternoon, as a spokeswoman explained. According to the LBV, it maintains 3,300 hectares of its own protected areas in Bavaria and operates eleven state-approved environmental stations. The federal state has 4,000 volunteers.
