Bavaria: Martin Hagen nominated as top candidate for FDP Bavaria

Munich (dpa / lby) - As in the 2018 state election, Martin Hagen is to lead the Bavarian FDP as the top candidate in the election next year. The state board and parliamentary group unanimously nominated the 41-year-old, as the FDP Bayern announced on Wednesday. The final decision on his candidacy will then be made at the state party conference on November 12. However, the choice is purely a formality.

"From the energy crisis to the shortage of teachers: in many places it is evident that the black-orange coalition is not up to the challenges," said Hagen. "People in the Free State expect action, not pointers to Berlin." As early as 2018, Hagen led the Liberals back into the state parliament as a top candidate and has been chairman of the FDP parliamentary group ever since. According to the latest polls, however, the FDP has to worry about moving back into the Maximilianeum.
