Bavaria: Siemens opens new campus in Erlangen

Erlangen (dpa / lby) - The technology group Siemens has presented one of the largest construction projects in its company history at the Erlangen site. The company announced at the opening on Monday that 17,000 employees from Siemens and Siemens Energy will soon be working on the new Siemens campus, an open district with an area of 540,000 square meters.

Investments of 1.2 billion euros have flowed into the metropolitan region of Nuremberg alone over the past ten years. In addition to offices, including for the Siemens board members, and a reception building, a new laboratory building has also been built in Erlangen. There, together with university institutions, research is to be carried out on energy topics, among other things.

"In our research laboratory, we work together with partners on solutions for the energy transition. In this way, we support our customers on their way to a more sustainable future," said Siemens CEO Roland Busch.
