Bavaria: Söder: Level reached in gas storage not enough

Neu-Ulm (dpa/lby) - Despite recent reports of success in filling German gas storage facilities, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) does not consider what has been achieved to be sufficient. A filling level of 82 percent nationwide is not enough, said Söder on Monday at a press conference with his counterpart Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) from Baden-Württemberg in Neu-Ulm.

"The federal government started too late to fill the Bavarian stores," said the CSU leader. In addition, there is still no agreement with Austria. The neighboring country has large underground natural gas storage facilities, which are important for supplying Bavaria. Austria's storage facilities were around 65 percent full on Monday.
