Bavaria: Ten dead cows after a fire on a farm

Freising (dpa / lby) - Two days after a fire on a farm in Upper Bavaria, the investigation by the police into the cause of the fire is still ongoing. The police put the damage on Saturday at at least 500,000 euros. In addition, ten of the approximately 80 cows died or had to be euthanized.

In the fire in Freising, near Munich Airport, a barn and an outbuilding of the agricultural property went up in flames. Residential buildings were not damaged. According to the information, several rescue workers had to provide medical care themselves on site and one person had to be taken to a hospital.

In addition, the fire brigade operation had a temporary impact on flight operations: Because of the heavy smoke, machines were initially no longer able to land on the north runway of the airport, but only to take off. Meanwhile, only the southern runway could be used for landings.
