Bavaria: woman crashes into S-Bahn station: police have to stop onlookers

Munich (dpa / lby) - A 39-year-old woman slipped off at Munich's Marienplatz when boarding an S-Bahn and got stuck between the train and the platform. As the federal police announced on Friday, the fire brigade had to come to her aid because she could not free herself.

Although the disabled woman, who was traveling with a walker, was externally unharmed in the accident on Thursday, the emergency services still had their hands full - namely keeping intrusive gazers away.

"Rescue workers freed them from their predicament, while federal police officers had to fend off onlookers," the statement said. "During the rescue and treatment, onlookers kept trying to get to the scene of the accident. They even used the S-Bahn doors to switch from the opposite side of the platform to the side of the action."

According to the information, the federal police had to cordon off the site over a large area "to protect the privacy of the woman and to prevent the rescue measures from being obstructed". The 39-year-old was taken to a hospital to rule out that she did not break bones in the accident.
