Hesse: Agreement: Frankfurt takes over derelict Europagarten

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - According to its own statements, the city of Frankfurt has reached an out-of-court agreement with the investors on the future of the Europagarten. Accordingly, Hesse's largest city wants to take over the four-hectare area and make it accessible to the public as a park. City Councilor Stefan Majer (Greens) was relieved of the comparison, according to a message distributed on Tuesday. The city did not provide details of the agreement.

The wasteland is in the middle of the Europaviertel, which was only built a few years ago, and was fenced off for a long time. The new quarter behind the exhibition center is controversial in terms of urban development, among other things because of its architectural monotony.
