Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - Second division leaders SV Darmstadt 98 can expect a foretaste of what the coming season could be like: full stadium, glorious opponents, floodlights, huge attention. On Tuesday evening (8.45 p.m. / ARD and Sky), the lilies welcome Borussia Mönchengladbach with top striker Marcus Thuram and want to cause a sensation in the DFB Cup after the strong second division weeks. "We're playing against a top team with outstanding individual players. It should be fun for my team to be able to compete with guys like that," said head coach Torsten Lieberknecht on Monday.
Millions of viewers should tune in on ARD when the top second division team challenges the favorites in the second round. "The fact is that we are convinced of ourselves. We are currently checking whether he needs to undergo surgery," commented Lieberknecht. The Dane had been used in all twelve second division games of the season so far.
