Höchst in the Odenwald (dpa/lhe) - A 94-year-old pensioner was rescued from his burning apartment in Höchst in the Odenwald. The man was taken to the hospital on Sunday night with suspected smoke inhalation and a minor burn injury, according to the police in southern Hesse. According to the current status, an electrical device could have caused the fire, it was said.
The fire brigade and rescue service had forcibly gained access to the man's apartment. An extension behind the apartment and a workshop below were also affected by the fire. As a precaution, the residents of the apartments in the neighboring parts of the building were also temporarily removed from the house.
