North Rhine-Westphalia: Electro Festival "Ruhr in Love" mostly peaceful

Oberhausen (dpa / lnw) - Around 36,000 people celebrated together, mostly peacefully, at the "Ruhr in Love" electronic festival in Oberhausen. The organizers announced on Sunday that more than 350 techno, house and trance DJs performed in Olga Park on Saturday. After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the fans had a lot of catching up to do.

According to a police report on Sunday, the event went quiet for a long time. Some arguments broke out later that evening. After that, eight reports were made against visitors, four of them for resisting law enforcement officials. Four police officers were injured. One of the officers was bitten so badly by a 31-year-old festival visitor that he was unable to continue working.

250 further criminal proceedings were initiated for violations of the Narcotics Act. Late in the evening, a 29-year-old woman on an e-scooter crashed into a parked car and suffered minor injuries. According to the police, she had previously taken alcohol and drugs and had to give a blood sample.
