Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The number of fuel thefts from cars, trucks and construction vehicles tended to decline in Hesse in the years 2017 to 2021. This emerges from figures from the Ministry of the Interior in response to a parliamentary inquiry from the AfD parliamentary group in Wiesbaden. While in 2017 there were still 465 thefts of diesel or petrol from vehicles, for example, there were only 255 cases in 2021. Of the 2017 cases, 48 ​​were cleared up, and the officials identified the perpetrators in 16 cases of theft in 2021, the ministry said.

According to the information, the police in Hesse also registered fuel fraud 4,298 times last year - i.e. when perpetrators cheat at the gas station. Of these, 2,233 cases were cleared up.
