Hesse: Heraeus: New production building for medical devices

Hanau (dpa/lhe) - The technology group Heraeus is strengthening its location in Hanau with a new production building for medical devices. The factory brings together several work areas of the Heraeus Medical Components division on the campus, the company announced on Friday at the opening. In the future, up to 450 employees will work here on an area of 10,000 square meters.

"This new factory is a further stage in our long-term and extensive site development in Hanau," explained Rolf Wetzel, CFO of the Heraeus Group. The aim is to modernize the infrastructure and to improve jobs and processes. The company has invested more than 120 million euros in Hanau since 2015, and further projects and investments at the site are to follow in the coming years.

With more than 2000 employees, Heraeus Medical Components manufactures components, sensors and coatings for medical devices in the areas of neuromodulation, vascular and cardiac rhythm management. Neuromodulation is a therapeutic method for treating chronic pain and circulatory disorders. According to the company, the products are so small that they can often only be seen under a microscope - for example, components for pacemakers. The group with total sales of 29.5 billion euros last year employs around 16,200 people in 40 countries.
