Wiesbaden/Kassel/Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - Immigration authorities in Hessian municipalities are sometimes heavily overloaded. Not only, as has recently become known in Frankfurt, but also in other cities and districts, employees are obviously working on the attack. "A high volume of postal and electronic inquiries as well as a high number of applications for a residence permit in connection with high fluctuation among employees," says Wiesbaden's Social Affairs Director, Christoph Manjura, as the reasons for the overload. He also spoke of isolated cases of long-term illness among employees.
According to the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs, a good 15,400 asylum seekers and more than 92,000 refugees from the Ukraine have been registered so far this year. According to forecasts, the numbers will continue to rise given the trouble spots around the world.
