Hesse: knife attack in the airport: suspected perpetrator charged

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Around six months after a knife attack at Frankfurt Airport, the public prosecutor's office has accused a 51-year-old man of attempted manslaughter. The 48-year-old victim was seriously injured and an emergency operation saved his life, a spokeswoman for the prosecution said on Friday.

According to the indictment, the two men sat together in Terminal 1 on the night of April 13 and got into an argument. The accused is said to have threatened his opponent to stab him with a knife. The other is said to have thought this was a joke and said that he should do it. The 51-year-old homeless man then stabbed four times and then ran away. He had at least 3.38 per mil alcohol intus. Witnesses alerted the police, and the accused was arrested shortly thereafter. He has been in custody since then. The jury has not yet set a hearing date.
