Rüsselsheim/Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - The death of a small child in a pond in Rüsselsheim (Groß-Gerau district) continues to occupy the investigative authorities. As a spokesman for the police in Darmstadt said on Monday, no usable information was received after a witness call on Friday.
The one-year-old child got into the water in Verna Park on October 6 under initially unclear circumstances and died two days later in a hospital. Investigators believe it drowned.
Since the toddler is said to have been supervised by two caregivers from a Rüsselsheim association, investigations into suspicion of negligent homicide were initiated.
