Hesse: time change: association warns of increased risk of wild accidents

Bad Nauheim (dpa/lhe) - In view of the approaching time change, the Hesse State Hunting Association has warned of an increased risk of accidents involving wild animals. "This means that the twilight time, when the native wild animals go looking for food, falls back into the rush hour," said the association in Bad Nauheim on Thursday. New roads through forests are particularly dangerous because the game keeps its usual paths. According to the association, anyone who sees an animal should dim, honk and brake. Winter time starts on October 30th this year.

In the last hunting year, which always begins on April 1st, more than 16,000 animals died in traffic accidents in Hesse. Almost all of them were deer. The state hunting association assumes a high number of unreported cases.
