Herne (dpa / lnw) - The police discovered explosives, weapons and drugs in the Ruhr area. Three men aged 30, 46 and 50 were arrested, the Düsseldorf police reported on Thursday. In the meantime, arrest warrants have been issued against the trio, and the men are in custody.
The investigations into organized crime were initiated after a hitherto unreported find of explosives in Düsseldorf. They led to the evacuation and search of an apartment building in Herne last Monday, where explosives were also discovered.
At the same time, objects in Castrop-Rauxel and Essen were also searched. In addition to the explosives, three firearms, a silencer, 300 rounds of ammunition, 21 kilograms of marijuana, one kilogram of pure cocaine and 1,250 packs of untaxed cigarettes were seized in an undisclosed amount. The proceedings are being conducted by the public prosecutor's office in Essen.
