Hollywood: Scorsese and DiCaprio planning another film

After "Gangs of New York", "Aviator", "Departed - Unter Enemies", "Shutter Island" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" director Martin Scorsese (79) and Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio (47) are planning another one Cooperation.

Together they want to film the story of a historical survival drama off the coast of South America, as reported by the US industry journals "Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety". The streaming service Apple has secured the film rights. The template is the non-fiction book "The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder" by US author David Grann.

The story revolves around a British warship that runs aground on a desert island off Chile in 1741. In a brutal struggle for survival, the crew experiences starvation, murder and mutiny.

Grann (55) is also the author of the non-fiction book "Killers of the Flower Moon", which was recently filmed by Scorsese with DiCaprio in the leading role and is expected to be released in cinemas in 2023. It follows the murders of members of the Osage Indian tribe in Oklahoma in the 1920s after large oil deposits were discovered on their land.
