Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: New season for Mecklenburg State Theater

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - A romantic opera by Richard Wagner and a theater evening with texts by Heiner Müller are on the program in the new season of the Mecklenburg State Theater. Wagner's "Tannhäuser and the Wartburg Singers' War" marks the start of the music theater season on September 16 in the Great House in Schwerin, according to a statement on Thursday.

On September 30th, the play "Müller: A Chronicle in Six Decades" is to be shown in the Great House as a world premiere. In addition to texts by Heiner Müller, who is one of the most important German-speaking playwrights of the second half of the 20th century, there will also be live music.

"New places - new ways - new rooms, that's how we titled the 22/23 season," General Director Hans-Georg Wegner was quoted as saying. In the coming season, the Mecklenburg State Theater will open the so-called M*Halle - the former printing works of the "Schweriner Volkszeitung" in the Großer Dreesch prefabricated building area. It should be played here from the beginning of October. The Kulturmühle in Parchim is to be added as a venue from March 2023.

A total of 38 premieres and more than 30 concerts can be experienced in Schwerin and Parchim in the 2022/2023 season. There were also 16 revivals in all categories.
