Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Weather-related accidents during snowfall in Rostock

Rostock (dpa / mv) - Due to snowfall and slippery roads, a 57-year-old was injured in traffic accidents in the Rostock district and some cars were damaged. As the police announced on Sunday, at least two drivers were involved in a snow shower around noon. The 57-year-old crashed into a tree at Plaaz because he was trying to avoid an oncoming car that was cutting the curve. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries while the oncoming car drove on without stopping. The property damage is estimated at around 8,000 euros. According to initial findings, the police suspect that the slippery road and an inappropriate speed caused the accident.

Around the same time, a 47-year-old man had an accident on Autobahn 19 near Dolgen am See. He did not adjust his speed to the weather conditions and left the road, a spokeswoman said. The driver was not injured, but there was damage to the car and the crash barriers, which the police were initially unable to quantify.
