Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: 20-year-old in court for attempted murder

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - A 20-year-old man has to answer to the Schwerin district court from today (9.30 a.m.) for attempted murder. The public prosecutor's office accuses him of repeatedly stabbing an acquaintance on the central Marienplatz in the state capital in December last afternoon. The then 16-year-old victim was attacked with a long knife as he got off the tram. According to the investigation, the young person wanted to greet his acquaintance with open arms. He suffered life-threatening injuries in the knife attack and could only be saved by an emergency operation.

The alleged attacker fled after the crime. A few hours later, however, he turned himself in to the police, accompanied by his father. He has been in custody since then. The 20-year-old, who is said to have worked as a rap musician in Schwerin, admitted the crime to investigators, but denied that he wanted to kill the boy.
