Malchow (dpa / mv) - In a fire in a house in Malchow (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district), the 92-year-old owner and her 62-year-old son were injured. According to previous investigations, the fire started on Tuesday evening from a tiled stove on the upper floor of the house and spread to an armchair, the police said.

The 92-year-old was rescued by firefighters with severe burn injuries. Her son was able to get to safety and was slightly injured, it was said. The woman was flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter, and the son was taken to a hospital in an ambulance on suspicion of smoke inhalation. A preliminary investigation into negligent arson was initiated.
