Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Heilbad Waren and entrepreneurs are calling for more sustainable help

Waren (dpa/mv) - The city representatives in the Waren an der Müritz spa have demanded faster and more sustainable help for citizens and companies in the course of the energy crisis from the state and federal government. This emerges from an open letter that all factions of the city council and a number of entrepreneurs in the region presented on Monday. Increasing price increases and growing uncertainty in the energy supply are the causes.

An exceptional situation is emerging that can have serious consequences for everyday life. It is said that companies feared for their livelihoods, and the city and region for their quality of life. In the past, Waren's mayor Norbert Möller (SPD) had met with the organizers of the Monday protests, among others, to discuss the problems caused by inflation, energy costs and price increases.

Representatives of the SPD, Left, CDU, AfD, Greens, a citizens' initiative and the FDP signed the letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and the Schwerin state government. With around 21,000 inhabitants, Waren is the largest city on the Müritz and is considered the tourist center of the Mecklenburg Lake District with more overnight stays than the state capital Schwerin.
