Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Inflation exceeds the ten percent mark in MV

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Inflation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania reached 10.9 percent in October and thus exceeded the 10 percent mark for the first time. The main drivers were again energy prices, as the state's statistical office announced on Tuesday in Schwerin. Heating oil was therefore 99.9 percent more expensive than a year ago, gas 72.1 percent. According to the information, solid fuels such as coal or pellets cost 73.4 percent more than in October 2021.

According to the office, significantly more had to be paid for food than a year ago - inflation had just about exceeded the 20 percent mark, it said. There were particularly large price jumps for butter with a plus of 64.9 percent, wheat flour (42.7 percent), whole milk (34.8), beef (25) and vegetables (21.9 percent). Fruit, on the other hand, continued to be spared significant inflation rates at plus 4.7 percent. Apples were even cheaper by 1.5 percent - probably due to this year's lush harvest.

According to the office, there was an increase of 1.6 percent in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania compared to September.
