Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Northeast CDU continues personnel renewal

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has filled the position of state manager that has been vacant for almost two years. As the party announced on Tuesday, the state board unanimously appointed the 43-year-old former national volleyball player Ulrike Mischke (formerly Jurk) from Schwerin to the post. She will start work as early as Wednesday.

The election of Ulrike Mischke was his dream solution, said state party leader Franz-Robert Liskow. Mischke has been working for the CDU Mecklenburg-West Pomerania for more than ten years and has impressed with his high level of commitment, competence and communication skills. The unanimous result shows that she enjoys a high level of trust. "With the staffing, we are taking a further step towards the reorganization of the CDU in our state and are strengthening our state office," emphasized Liskow.

The surprising resignation of CDU hopeful Vincent Kokert from the party chairmanship at the beginning of 2020 plunged the state association into a serious crisis. As a result, there were several leadership changes. Since at the beginning of the 2021 election year Klaus-Dieter Götz, who had been state director for many years, also gave up his position due to age, the state CDU found it difficult to regain momentum. In the state elections in September 2021, the party fell far short of its own claims and expectations with 13.3 percent.

The CDU wants to change that again for the local and European elections in 2024. "This requires a strong team. In her new role, Ulrike Mischke will coordinate the work of the state office and organizationally control the modernization process," announced CDU General Secretary Daniel Peters. In the meantime, he had also taken over the post of state manager in personal union.
