Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Officials with families can hope for additional payments

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Officials with families in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania can hope for a sometimes significant additional payment. If the state parliament agrees, the family allowances in the lower salary brackets will be increased retroactively to January 1, 2022, according to the Ministry of Finance in Schwerin. For the period between January and November, up to around 2160 euros - depending on the salary group - could then be paid, it said on Friday.

This was preceded by a judgment by the Federal Constitutional Court in 2020, which called for a 15 percent gap between the remuneration of civil servants and the basic security level. According to the ministry, the first adjustment took place in 2021. Overall, salaries would increase linearly by 2.8 percent based on the draft law.

However, the country is only implementing the court's decision; there are no plans to extend it to include public sector employees. The judgment only affects the salary right, it said.
