Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Rich find year 2022 for the archaeologists in MV

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Around 1900 finds have been reported to the state archeology of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania this year. They range from potsherds to gold jewellery. And many a find changes the view of the past. This year, two finely crafted, gilded brooches from the 6th century - the time of the migration of peoples - were found in the north-east. Today's Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was not completely depopulated at the time, as was assumed years ago, says state archaeologist Detlef Jantzen. Some people were obviously not doing badly either, as the gold-plated brooches show. The material under the thin layer of gold is silver.
