Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Steinmeier continues "local time" in Neustrelitz

Neustrelitz (dpa/mv) - Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier continues his visit to Neustrelitz on Wednesday (9 a.m.). In the morning he wants to meet with representatives of the federal police training center located there. The "controversial coffee table" in the afternoon will deal, among other things, with the topics of protest culture, the consequences of the energy crisis and civic engagement. The invited guests also include the initiators of the protest actions in Neustrelitz. It was only on Monday evening that almost 400 people demonstrated again in the city against the federal government's energy policy.

Neustrelitz is the fourth city that Steinmeier visits as part of his "Local time in Germany" series of talks, making it the foreign official seat for three days. On Tuesday he signed the city's golden book, spoke to local politicians and had students show him around the city. On Thursday, the Federal President will receive the Slovenian President Borut Pahor with military honors on the city's market square.
