Rostock (dpa/mv) - Up to 8,000 young people are expected at the 45th European youth meeting of the ecumenical community of Taizé in Rostock and the surrounding region. The participants from all over Europe will pray, sing and share together from December 28th to January 1st. The hot preparation phase has begun. "We are now looking for quarters and hosts," said Frère Richard of the religious community on Friday at a press conference in Rostock.
According to the information, the young people bring their own sleeping bag and insulating mat. All that is needed are two square meters of carpet or wood, four breakfasts and, if possible, lunch on January 1st.
The meeting itself has no official theme. "The main theme is the people who meet, the hosts and the young people from all over Europe," emphasized Frère Richard. The meeting is supported by the Catholic and Protestant churches, the city of Rostock and the district of Rostock.
